About Us

PetitsPawz is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to saving cats throughout the island of Montreal. Founded in 2009 by Susan Mackasey, the rescue has saved over 400 abandoned cats to date.

PetitsPawz is a foster based rescue run entirely by devoted volunteers. It was created with three specific goals in mind :

1. Cat refuge : to provide shelter and medical care to stray, abandoned and abused cats, with the goal of finding caring adoptive families for them.

2. TNR ( Trap, neuter, release ) : Sterilizing, vaccinating and re-releasing feral cats back into their established colonies. This prevents further reproduction and the spread of diseases. Feral cats have had little or no contact with humans, and are therefore unable to be domesticated.

3. Education : Education plays a key role in change. PetitsPawz provides resources and information to cat owners about general care, the importance of sterilization and veterinary care as well as keeping cats indoors.

Tens of thousands of animals are abandoned throughout Quebec each year. Our goal is to help reduce these numbers one cat at a time, while providing a forever, loving home for every cat that is in our care.
